The housing here is a fast-changing mix — 1950s and 60s single-storey houses being gutted and extended, canal properties east of Federal, and a run of new beachfront towers.
Pompano has more original mid-century housing stock still standing than its neighbours, and those houses have low ceilings and short wall runs. Cabinetry is usually the thing that has to solve the storage the original plan never had.
The beachfront redevelopment means a lot of the work is in new construction where the kitchen is being specified before the drywall. That is the cheapest moment to move a wall or a service, and the moment worth booking a designer for.
East of the Intracoastal the salt exposure is as high as anywhere on this coast. Outdoor cabinetry here is aluminium, not stainless.
