Outdoor Kitchens USA — iKitchen's outdoor programme

The outdoor kitchen, built like an indoor one.

Ask, don’t hunt

Ask about outdoor

Materials that survive outside, layout, and what the process involves. It does not quote prices or confirm dates — a designer does that.

Why this is different

Outside is the hardest room in the house.

Everything a kitchen is made of indoors fails outdoors. Particleboard swells. Steel rusts, and near salt water it rusts fast. Painted finishes chalk in UV. Most "outdoor kitchens" are a grill in a masonry surround with a cabinet door screwed to the front — which is why the doors stop closing in year three.

We build the opposite: a real cabinetry programme in a material chosen for the climate, detailed the way we detail an interior kitchen, and finished so the edges, the hardware and the counter all belong to the same design.

Marine-grade aluminium, not stainless

The cabinetry is marine-grade aluminium — "twice as thick as most stainless steel cabinetry on the market, yet lighter in weight." It does not rust the way steel does; it is the material family used on boats and docks. It handles snow, ice, salt water and humidity, and being lighter it transports and installs cleanly.

Hardware is 304 stainless steel throughout — door slides, hinges, pulls and levelling legs. That is the part most outdoor cabinets get wrong, because the box can be perfect and a corroded hinge still ends the job.

Sealed doors and drawers, with integrated drainage. Rain gets into every outdoor cabinet ever built. The question is whether it leaves. Ours are sealed and drained by design, so water runs out instead of sitting in the bottom of a cabinet through a Florida summer.

What we build

A second kitchen, not a cart with a lid.

Cabinetry

Base runs, tall units, drawer banks and appliance surrounds in marine-grade aluminium, built to your dimensions rather than to a modular grid.

Counters

Stone tops specified and templated with the cabinetry, so the overhang, the edge profile and the seams are designed rather than discovered on site.

Grill & appliance integration

Built to each appliance's exact cutout and ventilation spec — grills, side burners, outdoor refrigeration, ice makers.

Storage that works outdoors

Cutlery inserts, waste and recycling pull-outs, sealed drawers. The same interior detailing we build indoors, in outdoor materials.

Sinks & utilities

Sink runs, plumbing and electrical coordinated with your trades so the utilities land where the cabinetry expects them.

Aluminium pergolas

Louvred aluminium shade structures, engineered to the same standard as the kitchen beneath them. Specified together, so they look designed together.

Six finishes, two door profiles.

The range is deliberately tight. These are powder-coat finishes chosen to hold their colour outdoors rather than a swatch book that ignores UV.

Shade

The 12×14 bronze aluminium pergola.

A louvred aluminium pergola engineered to sit over the kitchen rather than beside it. Aluminium means no warping, no rot and no repainting — the same argument as the cabinetry, applied to the roof.

How it works

From first conversation to installed kitchen.

01

Consultation

Free, 30 minutes, and genuinely a conversation about the space rather than a pitch. Bring photographs, dimensions if you have them, and the appliances you are set on.

02

Design retainer

Design retainers start at $3,000, and it is credited against the project. That buys drawings, elevations, a finish specification and an appliance layout — documents you own.

03

Production deposit

A 50% deposit releases the job into production. The balance is due before delivery.

04

Production — 8 to 12 weeks

Built to your drawings. We would rather tell you twelve weeks and mean it than tell you six and call you in week seven.

05

White-glove installation

Levelling, sealing and utility coordination on site. Not a pallet on the driveway.

06

Lifetime manufacturer warranty

On the cabinetry. Outdoors, a warranty is the only honest way to say you believe your own material claims.

Budget

What an outdoor kitchen actually costs.

Most outdoor kitchen projects land between $25,000 and $90,000. That is a wide band because outdoor kitchens vary more than indoor ones — a 10-foot grill run and a covered outdoor kitchen with a pergola, a sink, refrigeration and a bar are different buildings.

What moves the numberWhy
Run lengthThe single biggest driver. Cabinetry is priced by what gets built, and a 20-foot L costs roughly what its linear feet cost.
AppliancesThe grill, refrigeration, ice maker and burners are frequently a third of the budget, and they are specified before the cabinetry is drawn because the cutouts drive the layout.
Covered structureA pergola is a separate build. Adding one changes the number materially — and changes how much you use the kitchen.
Counter materialStone selection, thickness and edge profile.
Site conditionsWhether power, gas, water and drainage already reach where the kitchen is going.

We do not sell outdoor kitchens online, and we will not quote one from a photograph. The number depends on the run, the appliances and the site, and any figure given without those is a guess dressed as a price. The consultation is free and the retainer is credited — that is the honest way to find out what your project costs.

Where we build

Pool decks, terraces, rooftops and courtyards.

The programme is engineered for extreme climates — snow, ice, salt water and humidity — which is why it works in South Florida and equally in a Canadian winter. We install across the US and Canada, with showrooms in Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and beyond.

Questions

The questions we get asked first.

Will aluminium rust near the ocean?

No. Marine-grade aluminium does not rust the way steel does — it is the material family used on boats and docks. Powder coating adds UV stability on top, so cabinetry a block from salt water keeps its colour and its function.

How does it hold up to sun and storms?

It is built for exactly that: rust-proof marine-grade aluminium, UV-stable powder coat that will not chalk or fade, sealed doors and drawers, and drainage designed so water never sits inside a cabinet.

Why aluminium instead of stainless steel?

Because it is twice as thick as most stainless cabinetry on the market and lighter at the same time, and because it does not carry stainless steel's corrosion problem in salt air. The hardware is still 304 stainless, where stainless is the right answer.

Do you supply the appliances?

We design around them and build to each unit's exact cutout and ventilation spec. Bring the appliances you want; we will tell you honestly if a layout will not vent properly.

Is it modular or custom?

Custom. It is drawn to your dimensions and your appliances, which is why it takes 8–12 weeks to produce rather than shipping from stock.

Can you do just the pergola?

Yes, though it is worth specifying both together — a pergola sized to the kitchen underneath it looks designed, and one bought separately usually does not.
