Colour in a rented-out palette usually ends up everywhere. Here it is confined to three elements — the vanities, the bedhead and one run of joinery — so each one reads as a decision rather than as a scheme.
The vanities are wall-hung with a mitred front edge, which makes a heavy lacquered box look thin, and they are drilled for wall-mounted taps so the top stays clear.
The bedhead is fluted timber running the full width of the room, doubling as the headboard and as the shelf for the bedside lights.
