A grand living space with a black slatted wall, steel-framed library shelving and herringbone parquet.
Built-Ins & Wall Units · Wall Paneling · Modern
The library shelving is a blackened steel frame with deep shelves, running two storeys up beside the stair. Deep shelving in steel needs a mid-rail or it sags, and hiding that rail is most of the work.
The slatted wall opposite it conceals the doors into the rest of the house, so the room reads as a single volume with no visible openings.
Herringbone parquet runs through the whole floor, and the joinery is set out to its direction rather than to the walls.
