Outdoor Kitchens in Toronto

Outdoor Kitchens designed, built and installed for Toronto — narrow Edwardian houses, strict condo boards, and a serious indoor humidity swing. Our Toronto showroom is on Dundas Street West.

What changes here

Outdoor Kitchens in Toronto, specifically.

An Ontario outdoor kitchen has to come through a freeze, and that is the whole design problem. Any water sitting in a cabinet, a drawer or a fixing point when it freezes will split the assembly, so drainage, sealing and material choice do the work here that corrosion resistance does in Florida. Marine-grade aluminium takes the freeze-thaw cycle without failing at the fasteners, and the season shortens enough that the run should be planned to be closed down and reopened easily.

Toronto's older houses are narrow, tall and rarely square, with kitchens at the back and basements that matter. Site templating is standard, and a run that measures true on the plan will not be true on the wall.

The condominium stock is enormous and the buildings run strict rules: certificates of insurance, booked service elevators, protected corridors, restricted hours and, in many buildings, no moves at weekends. The install is scheduled around the building.

Heated winters take indoor humidity very low, and summers bring it back up. Solid timber elements are detailed for that swing, and a panel that was fine in a Florida house is not automatically fine here.

How we build it

The part that does not change.

None of this changes by location. It is the standard every outdoor kitchen leaves the shop to, Toronto included.

Outdoor cabinetry is a materials problem before it is a design one. Sun, rain, humidity and — near any coast — salt will destroy an indoor cabinet finished for an indoor life. We build outdoor kitchens in marine-grade aluminium with 304 stainless hardware, sealed doors and drawers, and integrated drainage, because that is what survives.

Sealed and drained

Doors and drawers are sealed with integrated drainage, so water that gets in has somewhere to go.

Marine-grade aluminium, not converted indoor cabinetry

Twice as thick as most stainless cabinetry on the market and lighter, which also makes it easier to deliver and install.

304 stainless hardware throughout

Door slides, hinges, pulls and levelling legs are all outdoor grade, because the hardware fails long before the box does.

Where we work

Serving Toronto

We work throughout Toronto, including Forest Hill, Rosedale, The Annex, Leaside and Etobicoke's Kingsway. The housing here is Edwardian and Victorian houses in the old city, post-war homes in Leaside and Etobicoke, and a very large condominium stock, and the cabinetry is specified for it rather than to a national standard.

Our Toronto showroom is at 2967 Dundas Street West. The samples are worth handling before you choose — or send the drawings and we will price it first.

Everything else we make in Toronto

The rest of the house.

One shop draws, finishes and installs all of it, which is why the closet matches the kitchen and there is one number to call when something needs adjusting.
