Bathroom Vanities in Toronto

Bathroom Vanities designed, built and installed for Toronto — narrow Edwardian houses, strict condo boards, and a serious indoor humidity swing. Our Toronto showroom is on Dundas Street West.

What changes here

Bathroom Vanities in Toronto, specifically.

An Ontario bathroom goes from a dry, heated winter to a humid summer, and a vanity that was built rigid will show it at the joints. Moisture-stable cores and a finish specified for a wet room handle the steam; detailing solid elements to move handles the season. In the older city housing there is the additional reality that the bathroom was added to a house that never planned for one, so the plumbing dictates the layout far more than the drawing does.

Heated winters take indoor humidity very low, and summers bring it back up. Solid timber elements are detailed for that swing, and a panel that was fine in a Florida house is not automatically fine here.

Toronto's older houses are narrow, tall and rarely square, with kitchens at the back and basements that matter. Site templating is standard, and a run that measures true on the plan will not be true on the wall.

The condominium stock is enormous and the buildings run strict rules: certificates of insurance, booked service elevators, protected corridors, restricted hours and, in many buildings, no moves at weekends. The install is scheduled around the building.

How we build it

The part that does not change.

None of this changes by location. It is the standard every bathroom vanitie leaves the shop to, Toronto included.

A vanity is the piece of cabinetry that takes the most abuse in a house — standing water, steam, heat from styling tools and daily opening — in the smallest space. It has to be built for that and still look like furniture, which is a materials decision as much as a design one.

Storage planned around plumbing

Drawers are notched around the trap so the space under the basin is usable rather than nominally there.

Built for a wet room

Moisture-stable cores, sealed edges and a finish specified for steam rather than for a dry room.

Wall-hung where it helps

Floating the vanity keeps the floor continuous and makes a small bathroom read larger, and it puts the plumbing where it can be reached.

Where we work

Serving Toronto

We work throughout Toronto, including Forest Hill, Rosedale, The Annex, Leaside and Etobicoke's Kingsway. The housing here is Edwardian and Victorian houses in the old city, post-war homes in Leaside and Etobicoke, and a very large condominium stock, and the cabinetry is specified for it rather than to a national standard.

Our Toronto showroom is at 2967 Dundas Street West. The samples are worth handling before you choose — or send the drawings and we will price it first.

The rest of the house.

One shop draws, finishes and installs all of it, which is why the closet matches the kitchen and there is one number to call when something needs adjusting.
