We plan against a real inventory first and then use the extra floor for an island with drawer storage, which is where the folded pieces and the everyday items should live.
New houses in this market are large and open, with double-height great rooms. A kitchen that reads well from twenty feet away needs different proportions from one designed at arm's length, and that is a drawing decision.
