Black usually flattens grain. Under the Minerva structure it does the opposite: the elm cathedrals read as shadow laid on shadow, and because SYNCRON sets the texture into the printed figure, the pattern holds up close as well as across a room. We reach for it on library shelving and study built-ins, behind a desk in a home office, and on the outer doors of a wardrobe run.
