Dark brown, and the cathedral figure is what saves it — a dark wood with no visible pattern turns into a shadow, and there is plenty here to look at. The lightly pickled pore leaves a paler trace inside the grain, which is what happens to real ash when a finisher works it. SYNCRON follows both. Put it in a study, a wine room, or the lower run of a kitchen under something considerably lighter.
